A Socially Responsible Photographic Safari
14/05/10
The travel industry can often be a particularly ruthless and potentially damaging sector of the business world, so I am pleased to be able to team up with Ryan Snider of 'Socially Responsible Safaris' to draw up the itinerary for a Photographic Safari in Tanzania in February 2012. Ryan and Tricia Snider founded 'Socially Responsible Safaris' with one goal – to provide an opportunity for others to learn about the African continent, thereby inspiring them to create positive change. The aim of their safaris is to bring positive change to local communities, involve environmentally sensitive accommodations, plant trees to off-set carbon emissions and generate meaningful relationships with host communities, schools and orphanages along their routes. In partnership with GIVE International, a charitable trust committed to education, primary health care and child development, a portion of trip proceeds is donated to the various initiatives that we visit along our route.
Ryan also aims to hire the best guides and drivers and together we have put together a great itinerary aimed at maximising photographic opportunities. For further details on the Tanzania safari and 'Socially Responsible Safaris' click here

6-day Landscape Photography Workshop – Greece May 2010
01/06/10

An image from the week
The focus of these ½ day sessions was on making use of our understanding of the principles of lighting and composition to improve our landscape photography. Each day we had a session involving an informal tutorial supported by a laptop slideshow in one of the cafes in the area and spent some time critiquing some of the photos that the participants volunteered. We also went out each day to apply the principles in the dramatic coastal and mountain landscapes on our doorstep in the Kardamili and Stoupa area. Here are a few photos I took of the participants at work – as you can see, because the participants were fit and willing, we included one or two of the more precipitous parts of the gorges!

I am repeating this workshop in Oct 2011, so please contact me to register your interest.
A client quotation:
"Great workshop in a wonderful location. What I have learnt, particularly about composition, has greatly improved my photographic ability" – GT, UK
